Freeway Driving

A freeway is also known as an expressway. It is a multi-lane and high-speed road. Traffic going in each direction is separated and ramps at the freeway let vehicles enter and exit. Vehicle speed on a freeway is higher on this type of road. Therefore, driving on a freeway can be more demanding and difficult. For an experienced driver, driving can be safer on the freeway because there are no bicycles, pedestrians and intersections.

For vehicles carrying a set minimum number of people, High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes are to be used. To use these lanes, you will need to learn how to recognize signs, markings, and rules for HOV lanes.

As a new driver, you need to learn how to drive with other vehicles around at low speeds before trying freeway driving. If you have a Class G1 licence, you only drive on freeways with a licensed driving instructor. To read more about this topic, please click the link below.
